Apartment Lomnica Timeless Interior with Wellness and Sauna
At byMOOD design, we designed this apartment in Lomnica in the High Tatras as a calm retreat that naturally connects with the mountain surroundings while offering the comfort of contemporary living. The concept is built around authentic materials, warm wood, refined neutral surfaces and a muted colour palette, giving the interior a timeless quality rather than a seasonal or trend-driven character. The entrance area already sets the tone of home: a practical bench for putting on shoes, a large-format mirror and soft ambient lighting welcome the visitor without visual noise while enhancing the sense of space. The hallway is designed as a clean line with carefully considered transitions and concealed doors integrated into the wall cladding, so that the technical areas do not disturb the overall impression and the interior remains easy to maintain even with intensive use. The first encounter with material and light was equally important: the surfaces were selected to feel natural both in daylight and in the evening, allowing the space to breathe after returning from the mountains.
The day zone connects the living room, dining area and kitchen into one continuous space centred around comfort, simplicity and subtle textures. The kitchen is designed as a compact built-in composition with minimalist surfaces and a carefully planned storage system, allowing it to remain visually clean even in everyday use. The worktop naturally continues into the dining area, creating a place for shared cooking, serving and slow breakfasts; the dining table is complemented by a pendant light that anchors the zone and softens the evening atmosphere with warm light. The living area is composed in natural tones, with an emphasis on soft seating and calm lines, creating a hotel-like feeling without cold sterility. The TV wall is kept visually clean, yet it is complemented by a concealed niche with wine storage, adding function and a subtle moment of surprise while still respecting the minimalist character of the entire concept. We also placed strong emphasis on layered lighting, allowing the mood of the space to change according to the time of day and the way it is being used.
The bedrooms were designed as quiet rooms for regeneration, where comfort, acoustic calm and quality lighting play the leading role. Wooden cladding, panelling and textured surfaces are complemented by concealed LED lighting, which creates a soft evening atmosphere without glare while highlighting the depth of the materials. The wall opposite the bed functions as a console or vanity zone with storage and a mirror, making the morning routine feel natural while keeping the space visually calm. In the details, we work with illuminated shelf niches, discreet surfaces for everyday objects and green accents that soften the composition and bring a natural quality to the interior. In the attic bedroom, we used the sloped ceiling as a defining feature and added a work corner by the window, allowing the apartment to function comfortably even during longer stays. Storage is handled through built-in wardrobes and clean surfaces that do not feel heavy, while supporting a sense of order.
The bathrooms are based on the contrast between wood and dark large-format surfaces, creating a space that feels both intimate and elegant, with an emphasis on clean lines and easy maintenance. Round mirrors, minimalist washbasin solutions and clear zoning bring a sense of order and hotel-level comfort, while the shower area uses glass and refined detailing to visually lighten the space. A distinctive part of the apartment is the wellness zone with a sauna, where warm wood, comfortable benches and soft lighting create a private spa atmosphere after a day in the mountains; the adjoining shower in dark tones further supports the feeling of premium relaxation. The technical background is resolved in a compact laundry room with a washing machine, dryer, storage shelves and a hanging zone, keeping everyday operation organised and “invisible”. The entire design is built so that, upon arriving in the Tatras, the owner does not have to deal with anything: everything has its place, the light behaves naturally and the materials age with quiet elegance, while the visualisations precisely define the atmosphere and details, forming a solid foundation for turnkey implementation in a premium standard.
